New Show: Meow Mix on DanceRadio.ca

New Show: Meow Mix on DanceRadio.ca

I’m stepping things up a bit. In addition to my weekly show on NSB Radio, I will now also be hosting a show on DanceRadio.ca.

My new show, Meow Mix, is a pre-recorded show that will air weekly on Wednesdays at 4PM PST. First show is set to air in 4 days, Septemper 4th, 2013 next week, September 11th, 2013.

I’ve been trying to come up with something to turn this show into a unique experience. I’m not keen on the idea of just making a 1 hour mix every week and submitting it to an admin who is going to just add it to a playlist with 23 other pre-recorded shows and thats all she wrote. I need to enhance the experience for myself as well as my friends and social media followers. With that being said, at the end of every show, I will feature my top choice “Bass Heavy Tune” of the week and feature it on my blog, which may or not include an article about the artist and/or interview.

I’m also thinking of making the last show of every month some sort of DJ Chart podcast, perhaps, expanding on the Kat’s Meow series I started a few months ago, but this idea is still in the early stages, and I am not yet certain I can make the commitment.

If anyone has any ideas on how I can use this opportunity to do something unique, I’d love to hear it. I’m also willing to throw everything mentioned above out the window and team up with a label to promote their artists or releases or whatever. If you can dream it, we can do it. Leave a comment below, contact me here or hit me up on Facebook

Update: After 3 weeks, I decided not to continue with this endeavor as I found preparing a pre-recorded show on a weekly basis took a lot of the fun out of DJing for me. Dance Radio declined my requests to reduce my show frequency to either monthly or bi-weekly and I found I did not have the time to write proper blog posts and archive the shows. So rather than do something poorly, I chose to not do it at all.

Live Set: MC Mamma Kat

A few weeks ago I did a live show on NSBRadio while my mother was over at my house visiting. It’s hard for me to entertain and mix at the same time, so I figured I’d give her the microphone and let her have at it. The result was pretty awesome, a show I wouldntContinue Reading

Colombo reminds us why we fell in love with breaks, while producers like Retroid continue to drive it into the ground.

I have a theory that perhaps all the Psy Breaks producers and listeners have brain injuries. Now, this is pure speculation here, but what if someone did acid, and while they were tripping their balls off they fell and hit their head. Let’s continue further with this analogy and assume that the impact from the blow has caused a unique type of dementia which leaves them in a state where the effects of the acid become permanent. To me, listening to Psy Breaks is as tortuous as having an excruciatingly painful migraine headache while on a really bad acid trip. So really, there can be no other explanation. All you Psy Breaks fans are just fucked in the head. Continue Reading

I was fortunate enough to be invited to play in the defconparties room at the Defcon 21 Pub Crawl. It was truly an amazing experience and I am ever so grateful for the opportunity.
